Special Needs Trusts Seminar
On Saturday, March 28, 2009, we will explore the other side of special needs law: planning and conservatorships. The speaker, Diedre Wachbrit Esq., is a nationally known expert on special needs planning and a Board-Certified Specialist. She will be taking your questions as well as answering the following:
- Conservatorships: Does your child need one? How do they work? What about after you and your child's other parent are gone?
- Medi-Cal: How does your child qualify when she is under 18? What if he's over 18?
- Supplemental Security Income: Is it worth the effort? How can you help your child manage her money? How does the government calculate how much your child receives? Can he work and still receive SSI?
- Social Security Disability Benefits: Who is eligible? Are there any downsides to accepting these benefits? How much does SSDI pay? How "disabled" does your child have to be?
- Special Needs Trusts (SNT): What is the difference between types of SNTs? Will the money go to the State when my child dies? On what can SNT money be spent? How do we set one up?
- Estate Planning for the Family: How much should our child with special needs inherit to have a good quality of life? What is a revocable living trust and how does it help? What other documents do we, as parents, need to protect ourselves and our children?
Come join other parents for a fast-paced, fun and informative day of learning. And bring your questions! Call 805 529-2782 for enrollment details
